RB - Using the HD cameras
In our lesson with Mrs Johnson we used the new Panasonic HD cameras. These are the cameras we will be using to create our music video so we were allowed to go out and test the functionality of the cameras and get a feel for them. Overall we adjusted to the new cameras quickly as they have the same general functionality of the old cameras however there are some major improvements over the old cameras. First of all the definition of the footage is a lot cleaner and crisper. The new cameras also record straight to SD card which saves us having to capture the footage into the computer as now we can just drag and drop the footage into the editing software via USB or SD card reader rather than firewire. These new cameras are smaller and lighter than the older cameras so creating a steady shot would be a bit harder if it wasn't for the anti-shake feature which is very good and when testing it gave a visible result. With the new cameras shooting video in AVC-HD format we have had to upgrade the editing software to allow it to cope with the bigger file sizes and resolution of the high definition videos.
